Sean Kim – 2025

Sean Kim – 2025

Since receiving the 2025 Theme & Variations Foundation Award, I have continued developing both as a pianist and collaborative artist through performances, competitions, and ongoing study. Earlier this year, I was awarded First Prize (Best Accompanist) at the 44th National Liederfest, which led to a scholarship and fully funded participation in a one-month Lieder master course at the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden bei Wien this July.

Following the completion of my Bachelor of Music (First-Class Honours) and one year of Master of Music (Research) studies at the University of Melbourne, I am continuing my studies privately with Steinway Artist Andreas Boyde, focusing on expanding my repertoire and refining my artistic voice at the piano. Alongside solo performance work, I remain active as a collaborative pianist and teacher in Melbourne.

I also have upcoming recital performances in June at Tempo Rubato and St John’s, East Malvern, presenting programmes centred around large-scale Romantic and 20th-century repertoire.

I am incredibly grateful for the Foundation’s support, which has helped make many of these opportunities possible and has allowed me to continue pursuing artistic growth at this important stage of my musical journey.
